Our Children's Services
Great Park Children's Service is all about fun, love, and informal Jewish education. With dedicated madrichim and personal attention is given to each and every child, the Great Park children's service is the perfect place for your child to have fun and make friends while having an incredibly positive and fun Jewish experience within the warm community of Great Park Shul.
The ‘Shul Bucks’ System provides kids with incentives to pray, bring friends to Shul, and explore Jewish Ideas and matters relating to the weekly portion. The reward is the chance to redeem awesome prizes for the Shul bucks earned.
Great park Children's Service is also looking forward to introducing a number of exciting new programs and outings in the near future. Stay tuned for more… and we hope to see you there!!

Chagim
High Holidays:
Children's services are held over the High Holidays. These services are filled with a spirit of the holiday, and the holiday messages are imparted in an interactive and exciting way.
Pesach, Shavuot, Sukkot:
Our Children's programs focus on the theme of each chag, and emphasize the lessons learned from that particular time of year.
Purim:
There is no doubt that Purim is a highlight for children. Great Park is known for its outstanding annual Purim party attended by happy masquerading kids.
Simchat Torah:
Hundreds of kids participate in our Simchat Torah celebration. The focus is on the children who gather in the center of the Shul to dance, sing and say words of Torah.

Holiday Services
High Holidays:
The aura in our Shul over Yom Tov is something extraordinary. Over the High Holidays, the Shul is packed to capacity and extra seats are added to facilitate the growing number of people who want to participate in our services. Our Rabbi and Chazzan accompanied by the beautiful choir lead a service that is both moving and inspiring.
In addition to the main service taking place in the main sanctuary, a more intimate and participatory service takes place in the Leib Dovid Minyan.
To book a seat over the High Holiday Season, please contact Sandy Budin.

Leib Dovid Minyan
Leib Dovid (Leon) Medalie OBM lives on in our Great Park Synagogue every day in the ‘Leib Dovid Minyan’, a place that provides participants with an opportunity to pause at the start and end of each work day to connect with Hashem. Stop in for a morning coffee after Shacharit, for a short meaningful thought between Mincha and Maariv, or stay for a Shiur following Maariv.
On Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the Leib Dovid minyan offers beautiful Prayer services in the small Shul (in addition to the services taking place in the main sanctuary). Led by Rabbi Shmuel Simpson together with the Ba’al Tefillah, these services are intimate and awe-inspiring and have been described as ‘the best kept secret in South Africa’.
We invite you to enhance your regular schedule by becoming a regular at the ‘Leib Dovid Minyan’.
Haftarah Club
When was the last time you read your Haftarah?
Join THE GREAT PARK HAFTARAH CLUB and re-live your Bar-Mitzvah all over again. Invite your family and friends to join as you step up to read your Haftarah Portion.
To join a Shabbat on which to read your Haftarah, to obtain a recording, or to arrange a one-on-one session to review your Haftarah, please contact Rabbi Shmuel Simpson.
