Mikvah Ma'ayan Ganim takes its name from the words of Shir HaShirim, "Ma'ayan ganim, be'er mayim chayim" — "a garden spring, a well of living water." Established at Great Park in 2013, the Mikvah was created through the vision of Tyrone and Wendy Zinman together with Rabbi Dovid and Feige Hazdan. Inspired by Aviva Krost, its décor and fittings reflect the highest standard of quality and care.

Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg

Mikvah Ma'ayan Ganim was built in memory of Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg, who were murdered in the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008. Among the many institutions they established for Jewish life in Mumbai was a mikvah serving the city's Jewish women.

The things people actually ask.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes — always, and that is deliberate: booking is what lets us guarantee that your visit is completely private and that no one else will be there. All bookings are made over WhatsApp only, on +27 65 627 3995. A message is enough — you do not need to explain anything.

What do I need to bring?

Yourself. Towels, a robe, soap, shampoo and every other essential are already in your room. If there is something particular you prefer to use, bring it — but you do not have to plan anything.

How long will it take?

Most women are here around an hour, though that is an average rather than a schedule. Preparation is the unhurried part; the immersion itself takes moments.

Is the water clean?

Yes. The immersion pool is emptied, cleaned and refilled regularly and is treated to the same standards you would expect of any pool. It is worth knowing that a mikvah's halachic validity comes from its connection to the collected rainwater in the bor — not from the water sitting undisturbed. Clean and kosher are two separate requirements, and ours meets both.

I have never been, and I am not sure I know what I am doing.

That is the most common message we get, and it is completely fine. An attendant will walk you through every step as slowly as you want. Nobody is assessing you, and nobody will comment on how observant you are or are not.

Can I see the mikvah before I use it?

Absolutely — and many women prefer to. Educational visits and tours are arranged privately, outside of appointment hours. Just ask.

Who will I be speaking to?

Our mikvah attendants, all of whom do this work with real discretion. Rebbetzen Leanne Binstock, who oversaw a community mikvah in her previous kehilla and trained specifically in Taharat Hamishpacha and women's health, is also available for any question you would rather bring to her directly.
